CIRAD in Thailand participated in the Clean Up the World 2017 event last Saturday, 16th september.

Clean Up the World is a community based environmental campaign that inspires and empowers communities from every corner of the globe to clean up, fix up, and conserve their environment. Now in its 24th year, Clean Up the World, held in conjunction with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), mobilises an estimated 35 million volunteers from 130 countries annually, making it one of the largest community-based environmental campaigns in the world.

CIRAD in Thailand participated in the Clean Up the World 2017 event last Saturday, 16th september.

Through the efforts of all the teams, they picked up in total:

- more than 2000 plastic bags

- more than 700 plastic bottles

- More than 600 plastic glasses

- more than 900 glass bottles

- more than 1300 polystyrene packaging

- more than 150 fabrics / clothing

- + 1500 small pieces of plastics (cigarettes, straws, small packages, ...)

 These data will be used by the University of Mahidol and Bangkok University to complete their study to trace the source of pollution.
