The 8th annual seminar of the HRPP, 13-15 November 2017, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand.
The annual seminar of the Hevea Research Platform in Partnership (HRPP) was held from November 13 to 15, 2017 at Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand.
The HRPP has four core partners, CIRAD, Kasetsart University, Prince of Songkla University and the RAOT and a dozen of associate partners, which are Thai and French research and higher education institutions. Its scope covers natural rubber production “from the seed to the rubber bale”
This year, the event was particularly successful with more than a hundred participants, innovative scientific presentations, two roundtables and two project workshops. A specific session was devoted to the outputs of two projects supported by the French National Research Agency (ANR), which have been the backbone of HRPP activities for the last three years.
- RUBBex (From rubber particles of Hevea latex to natural rubber structure and properties) unravels the composition and structure of native latex to identify the drivers of NR properties and their impact on quality.
- Heveadapt (How tree-based family farms can adapt to global changes) focuses on the impact of socio-economic changes on rubber farms, the responses of trees to climatic stress, the link between soil functions and sustainability and the adaptation strategies developed by farmers.
Moreover, three new institutions made their debut as HRPP associate members: Thaksin University from southern Thailand, Yara Thailand – the first private associate member – and the Cambodian Rubber Research Institute (CRRI) – marking the regional opening of the HRPP.
