Seminar on Vietnam-France cooperation for the sustainable development of agriculture and signature of MOU between Cirad & VAAS, 20th June 2018, Phu Tho, Vietnam
In the framework of 45th anniversary (1973 – 2018) of Vietnam – France diplomatic ties and the hundred years anniversary of the Phu Tho research centre, on 20th June 2018, Cirad in partnership with French Embassy, Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) and Northern mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (Nomafsi) organized the seminar “Vietnam – France cooperation for the sustainable development of agriculture in the northern mountainous region” at Nomafsi. The seminar attracted more than 60 participants from authorities and research institutions
In the seminar, researchers from Vietnamese institutions (Vaas, Nomafsi, Casrad, Vnua, Favri…) and French organizations (Afd, Cirad, Ird) highlighted the impact of some of their projects on Vietnamese agriculture and farmers. Some recommendations for future cooperation were proposed based on priorities and expectation of both governments.
Perspectives discussed can be summarized:
- Agro-ecological and Organic agriculture
- Branding local products to accompany the government policy: one commune-one product
- Market accesses for small farm and Value chain/cooperative
- Inclusive quality certification and Food safety
- Apply of information technology in traceability
- Policy decision supports
On this occasion, Cirad and Vaas hold a signing ceremony on FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT FOR SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION for the period 2018 – 2022.
