  • Philippe Vaast

    Following 2 years at CIRAD in Montpellier and 4 years at ICRAF headquarters in Nairobi, Philippe Vaast has joined ICRAF in Hanoi in May 2017

    Philippe Vaast has joined the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) as a seconded researcher in Hanoi to lead locally BREEDCAFS, the international EU-funded project on selecting Arabica coffee cultivars for agroforestry systems. Philippe is a plant eco-physiologist and expert in agroforestry of coffee and cocoa. He is part of the Joint CIRAD, IRD, INRA and Montpellier SupAgro Research Unit “Eco&Sols: "Ecologie Fonctionnelle & Biogéochimie des Sols & des Agroécosystèmes" http://www.umr-ecosols.fr/index.php/fr/

    Robin COLLOMBET has moved to Laos (Sam Neua) in january 2017

    Robin COLLOMBET is an agronomist, graduate from ISARA-Lyon and Wageningen UR. He specialized in agroecology and development during his studies. He later on focused on systemic agronomy in his early professionnal experiences in a french local NGO (Centre de Développement de l'Agroécologie). He has moved to Laos (Sam Neua) in january 2017 to become part of EFICAS project. He will assist in the coordination of project activities in Houaphan province and in the valorization of scientific data . More specifically, he will work on interactions between livestock systems and the development of innovative cropping systems.

    After 6 years at Cirad scientific direction in Montpellier, Estelle Biénabe has joined the Casrad in Hanoi in September 2016

    Estelle Biénabe has joined the Center for Agrarian Systems Research and Development (Casrad) as a visiting researcher. She is conducting research on quality standard development, notably geographical indications, and on linking rural and urban transformations through value chain approaches.

  • Veronique Chevalier has joined the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge in Phnom Penh

    Veronique Chevalier has joined the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge in Phnom Penh (Cambodia), where she will be involved in conducting and coordinating research and in teaching. Her main research topic is the epidemiology and modelling of emerging diseases, with emphasis on vector borne diseases.

    After 5 years in Thailand, Didier Lesueur has joined CIAT-Asia in Hanoi in September 2016

    Didier Lesueur has joined CIAT (International Center for Tropical Agriculture) - Asia in Hanoi for leading the SoiLS (Soil and Landscape Sustainability) program in SEA. His main research topics are soil microbiology and soil organic carbon content in agro ecological systems, utilisation of beneficial microorganisms to mitigate the utilization of mineral fertilizers and pesticides.

    After 9 ½ years in Zimbabwe, Michel de Garine-Wichatitsky has joined the University of Kasetsart in Bangkok in September 2016

    Michel de Garine-Wichatitsky has joined the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Kasetsart, where he will be involved in conducting and coordinating research and in teaching. His main research topic is the epidemiology of emerging diseases, with emphasis on socio-ecological approaches and wild-domestic interfaces

    Alpha Oumar II Diallo is a Phd student in Functional Ecology and Agronomic Sciences from the University of Montpellier with a Master degree in applied mathematics from the University of Bordeaux, France. His research concerns the modeling of the epidemiological cycle of the Japanese encephalistis, a major cause of encephalitis in Southeast Asia (SEA). He is based at Institut Pasteur du Cambodge.

    Chloé AUSSARESSES moved to Laos (Vientiane) in January 2016

    Chloé AUSSARESSES is an engineer in geomatics, graduated of IGN’s school of Geomatics (Paris) in November 2015. She is specializing in database management, GIS, cartography and Web mapping. Chloé achieved her final internship before receiving diploma at the Chamber of Agriculture in Nantes. Faced with needs of agronomical advisors, she designed and developed applications of reporting and Web mapping in order to enhance agronomical data. Chloé moved to Laos (Vientiane) in January 2016 and will manage data of EFICAS project during one year. She will set up a database to store and manage data which the aim of making data available through a Website. Chloé will also implement a mobile application to input survey data and supply automatically database.

    Philippe CAO-VAN moved to Laos (Vientiane) in September 2015 after 11 years (2004-2015) spent in Reunion Island (the last 6 years as deputy regional director for Cirad) and 8 years (1996-2004) in Vietnam. He is an agronomist, expert in tropical fruit crops and has been working for Cirad since 1991.
